Island EMS’s responsibilities include:

• Managing the ambulance service delivery system according to performance requirements;
• Creating a province-wide ambulance management system to match the available ambulances to the changing patterns of demand for those ambulances;
• Maintaining the communications system, bases, vehicles and equipment to Regulator-established standards;  
• Purchasing the supplies and services for the system;
• and Reporting on the performance expectations required by the Regulator.
