Western Operations Manager Claude Gavin
Claude was born and raised in Alberton, PEI
Claude began working in the Emergency Medical Services with Rooney’s Ambulance service in 1981 and continued with them until he moved to Royal Ambulance in 1992. In 1998, Claude became the owner of Rooney’s Ambulance of Alberton, PEI and continued to work as a Paramedic as well.
Claude took an Emergency Medical Course in 1984 and an Emergency Medical Care Attendant course in 1986. He then proceeded into a Primary Care Paramedic accredited course, then proceeded to take an Intermediate Care Paramedic course in 2002.
Claude sold Rooney’s Ambulance to Medavie Blue Cross in 2006, as part of the consolidation of Ambulance services in Prince Edward Island and assumed the role of Western Operation Manager.
Since becoming a Operation Manager with Island EMS, CIaude has continued his education by taking courses such as ICS levels 1-4, and Basic Emergency Management, He has also taken Leadership courses from St Mary’s University.
Claude is also the current supervisor/EMS Liasion in charge of Medical First Responders in Prince Edward Island. This entails coordinating between Island EMS and the PEI FireFighters Association. He aIso is a serving member of the Emergency Medical Services board of PEI.
He currently resides in Summerside with his wife Myrna.
