Currently Island EMS operates 4 different types of emergency vehicles on the Province of Prince Edward Island.
Multi Patient Transfer Unit
Capable of transporting 2 patients at the same time, this unit is primarily used for inter-provincial transport. Safety is insured as both stretchers are securely locked in place and curtains provide a level of privacy during transport. It is also utilized during Mass Casualty Incidents and daily operations. It carries a staff of 2 Paramedics
Type 3 - Mini Mod

Similar to the Multi-Patient Transfer unit, but only capable of transporting 1 stretcher at a time. This unit is designed with mobility for staff in mind. This unit carries a staff of 2 paramedics.
Type 2 - Van Style Ambulance


The most often seen type of ambulance seen in Prince Edward Island.
Capable of carrying 1 stretcher at a time, it is designed for our smaller roads. This unit carries a staff of 2 Paramedics. Currently Island EMS is trialing 5 Mercedes Benz Type II Ambulances. They are 4 inches higher and have improved lighting, and new safety features for both the Paramedics and patients
Supervisor Vehicle

Currently operating with one of these vehicles in the province, it is utilized by Supervisors and Management Staff. It is used to respond to calls when additional resources are needed on a scene. It is fully equipped with medical equipment and immobilization equipment, however cannot transport patients. It is also used to facilitate equipment movement between bases, and management roles when needed.
